Floor Hockey Update

A note from Coach Scott!

Now that the 2004/2005 Floor Hockey Season is over I wanted to give everyone an update as to the final results. We had another very successful Floor Hockey season, participating in 3 tournaments this year. Western San Bernardino in December, Long Beach State in early January and it all culminated in the grand daddy of them all, the San Diego Regional Tournament at the San Diego Convention Center last weekend.

This year, like last, we had 2 teams consisting of 19 athletes. Eagles #1, who consists of Kevin Bui, Shaun Campbell, Tim Johnson, Cory Johnson, Josh Levine, Conor Kahl, Ryan Kahl, Patrick Guimond, Pardiss Shahin and Tom Peale, started the season in level "C" division and finished in the "B" division at San Diego. It has taken this team 4 years to get to this level and they should all be very proud of their accomplishments. Within the "B" division, Eagles #1 was able to earn the silver medal with a three way tie for second with a record of 1 - 2. A tremendous feat considering this was their first year in this extremely difficult division.

Eagles #2 team, which consists of Michael Cassady-Henze, Chris Okubu, David Wallace, Jonathan Orphan, Jason Serota, John Moise, Rafe Day, Richard Wixted and Sogol Ziaie, continued their undefeated streak to 5 tournaments battling many teams with stronger abilities. They started the season as a "D-" team and finished San Diego as a strong "D". Along the way they were able to soundly beat every team in their division but their last win in the gold medal game was not without some nail biting. It was the first time Eagles #2 had to battle back from a deficit and they did so with grit and determination to win the gold in only their second regional championship.

I would like to thank all of the athletes for their continued hard work and I look forward to next year increasing our status as two dominant teams within Special Olympics Southern California.
